4th June 2016 - Day 20 - Salen, Loch Sunart to Port Mor, Muck, Small Isles

Left early after re-fuelling. There wasn't going to be enough water on the fuel berth after 9am so we had to be re-fuelled and away by then. Down the beautiful Loch and had breakfast enroute.

Beautiful Salen
Ardnamurchan point was easy today in the much lighter winds and we found we had caught up with Monterey again, they were heading for the same anchorage and at the same time. They were only half a mile behind us having just left Tobermory. We rounded the point at virtually the same time and set sails and course for the island of Muck.
This is Ardnamurchan point - the most westernly point on mainland Britain.
In the background are the Small Isles of Rum (the faintest), Muck in front of it and Eigg.

Brilliant sail today but confirmed we do need new sails, Monterey is heading up much better than us and was able to make the island in one tack whereas we had about 3 or 4.

The Waverley sailed by.

We anchored in the bay next to Monterey and went ashore. We walked to the other end of the island and realised there was a definitely something going on on the island. There are only 38 peole who live and work on Muck (so the pilotage says) and we had picked the day to visit when they were all dressed up and on their way to a wedding ceremony at the village hall. There were kilts and posh dresses everywhere and we got a couple of invitations to attend ourselves.

Back to the boats and eat aboard Monterey. Several whiskeys later and another drunken tender paddle back to our boat.
